Jeff Hamada, founder of Booooooom!
I was going through some old photo’s I took and found this gem of Jeff in a Bieber/Slayer T-shirt from 2011. I’ve known Jeff for a few years and not only is he one of the most talented people I’ve ever met, he’s also just a rad dude.

I get asked a lot about my collage process, especially regarding the work that has repeating imagery. Through my crate diggings I find images that speak to me and want to explore them. The technique I have chosen to get the repeated images is sourcing the original material - usually online - buying vintage magazines from Ebay, Amazon, Abe Books etc. I Find the original printings of the images and recollect them to re-contextualize the experience. I recreate the digital style through an analog process. I don’t think the knowledge of this is intrinsic to the work but it does add another layer. The colors are never quite the same in each printing, the way they have been stored also changes the image slightly. This subtle variation adds a texture that couldn’t be found if I were to print them myself. The limitation of how many copies I can find also informs the work and creates another challenge. I don’t always get what I want from the material. It becomes a negotiation.
