“The Age of Information” | Randy Grskovic | 24” x 36” | 2010 | Analogue Collage, Ink, Gold Leaf
To really comprehend what I’m doing with my artwork, one must try to understand there is a collection process. Most of what I post are quick sketches on my way to much larger pieces. For instance, this work is re-imagining the fable of Eve in the age of information. Instead of just one snake in the garden, there are many. The purpose of the the work was to illustrate the misinformation there is in the 21st century using a classic story.
This piece took me a long time to complete. I had a vision; I had been collecting images of snakes but finding a picture of a woman eating an apple took me almost a year of searching.
The collages I frame are shadow boxes, they are very sculptural so when you see them in real life the layers have different depths. It doesn’t show up well on the internet, but it looks great IRL.
All the materials used are acid free and I always frame everything with UV protective glass.
